Today marks an exciting milestone for Team Artistic Intelligence from Southview School in Crowland, as they compete in the National Finals of the First Lego League Masterpiece in Harrogate. Quince Contracting Services Ltd is thrilled to sponsor this talented team for the second consecutive year. Watching these bright, well-behaved, and enthusiastic young minds embrace STEM through this competition has been incredibly inspiring.
This year’s theme is Masterpiece, and the challenge involves reflecting on how we share our interests with others. The project brief encourages participants to explore how the arts (through museums, theatres, and films) can teach us about communication, engagement, and entertainment. The aim is to create a project that shares something they’re passionate about with an audience.
The team chose dance as their project focus. They’ve programmed a robot to perform a short dance routine, conveying the message that dance is accessible to all. Their innovative approach showcases the power of creativity and inclusivity, making their project a true masterpiece in itself.
A few weeks ago, they presented their project to our director, Lee Quince, sharing videos of their dance routine and their robot’s progress in completing a series of challenges. Impressed by their dedication, Lee remarked, “We are so pleased to be supporting this for the second year. Southview is a fantastic school with a strong focus on STEM development. I wish I had access to competitions like this when I was in school. The team’s enthusiasm was evident, and I could tell how much this competition has helped them grow in confidence. I’m thrilled to see their self-assurance at such a young age—something I never had back then!”
P.S. We’re loving the team’s creative T-shirt designs!
